Healing Nature of Horses Workshop Staff

    Horses are key staff members of the HNoH Workshops. We observe them, we talk about them, we talk with them, we work with them, we share some of their generosity, beauty and power through experiences they give us. They teach us, they show us, they spark our curiosity. They patiently allow us to groom them, then graciously allow us to ride on their backs in some workshops.

    The HNoH workshops are held in different locations, and each time we have met wonderful and kind horses who have taken us on our journey! Sometimes we know the horses very well, and sometimes we are meeting them for the first time. We are always grateful to them, and hope that they also benefit from their time with us!

    The horses get assistance from some human staff members:

Chris Korben, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Master Addictions Counselor. Certified Equine Interaction Professional-MH (CEIP-MH), Clinician for Community Counseling of  Bristol County, Adjunct Faculty of Boston University School of Social Work & Bridgewater State College. Mass. Riding Instructor. Owner and Manager of Korben School of Holistic Horsemanship, an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy practice. Author of Speaking of Horses. Life long horsewoman.

Susanne Haseman, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Vermont and New Hampshire. Certified Equine Interaction Professional-Mental Health (CEFIP-MH). PATH International Certified Advanced Therapeutic Riding Instructor. PATH International Certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL). Developed an equine facilitated psychotherapy practice called First Light Farm Counseling Services which provides counseling, animal assisted therapy, wellness groups, education  and therapeutic horsemanship.  Full Faculty Member for PATH International’s Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning workshop and certification. Founding member and past Treasurer for the Certifying Board of Equine Interaction Professionals (CBEIP). She was Secretary & Member of the EFMHA Board, founding member of NESAR/NARHA Region 1; Co-founder of the Horse Power Instructor Training School, a founder of High Horses Therapeutic Riding Program.
